The Top Reasons NOT to Give to the Annual Campaign

Reason:
The school doesn’t really need our donation:  it will just be used for “extras.”

Answer:  The Nathan Hale budget has been cut by $600,000 over the past six years.  There are no more “extras” to cut.  We need money from parents to fill the budget gap.  Annual Campaign dollars literally help keep teachers on staff and pay for teaching tools.  We need your help to pay for these essentials.

Reason:  We already gave to the Nathan Hale PTSA/Sports boosters/Music Program …..

Answer:  Your generous gifts of time and money are needed by many groups at Nathan Hale and help make it the great school it is.  The PTSA serves as a vital link between the Hale community and the school; your child’s favorite school activities need and appreciate your support.  But, the Nathan Hale Annual campaign is the only fundraiser dedicated solely to supporting academics.  We hope you can find money to support this important cause.

Reason:  We make all our donations in December, June, and September…..

Answer:  You can make a pledge now and pay later – as late as December 2007 – and still have it used in the 2007-2008 academic year.

Reason:  We already donated to the Annual Campaign last fall.

Answer:  Thanks so much for your past support for the Annual Campaign.  That money is being used right now to pay for teachers and essential classroom materials.  We’re currently raising money for the 2007/2008 school year.  If you’d rather pay us in the fall, you can make a pledge now and pay later this year.

Reason:  We can't afford a donation.

Answer:  It doesn't matter what size donation you make.  Whatever you can afford to give to the Annual Campaign will be used to benefit the education of all the students at Nathan Hale.  The suggestion is for every Hale family to make a "personally significant contribution."  That could be $10, $10,000, or anywhere between , depending on your circumstances.  You can make your donation easier on your budget by making a small contribution every month.  For example:  a pledge of $10 a month adds up to a significant $120 amount per year!  You can also double your donation if your employer has an employee gift match program.  Ask about it at your personnel office.  And don't forget:  your donations give back to you if you itemize, because they are completely tax deductible.

Reason: Other people will give to the Annual  Campaign, so we don't have to.

Answer:  Last year, over 400 Nathan Hale families and community members made contributions to the Annual Campaign, totaling just over $100,000.  This year, we want to increase participation in the Annual Campaign to 65% of Nathan Hale's families.  If every family at Hale makes a "personally significant contribution" to the campaign -- whether it's $15 or $1,000, or anywhere between  --   all our students will benefit.  Over the past six years, this money has made a real difference in keeping Hale the terrific school it is.  We need your help.

Reason:  We shouldn’t have to donate to a public school.  That’s why we pay taxes.

Answer:  Isn’t it a shame that we have to ask parents to pay for basics like teacher salaries, vital classroom supplies, and technology?  But high school budgets have been reduced drastically over the past five years; and the state has yet to fund a full six periods.  Nathan Hale is working to keep all our teachers and maintain current class sizes.  In order to do that, your donations to the Annual Campaign are essential.

Reason:  We’re new to the school and we’ll give next year.

Answer:  Donations made now will be used for the 2007-2008 school year.  Hale is working to keep all our teachers and maintain current class sizes.  Money donated through the Annual Campaign also helps pay for the Homework Help Center and upgrading classroom technology.  In order to do all those things, we need your help now.

Reason:  Our student is graduating this year and we have to pay for college.

Answer:  Many of our families with seniors make a donation as a thank you for a good education.  Some families give the same amount they gave when their child was at Hale, and some families give more or less.  Every year, parents of seniors give money that helps educate your child.  We hope you can do the same.

We hope you will agree that your donation WILL be put to good use - click here to find out how to donate.
